Power Skating
Power Skating classes hosted at NCWC span from new Mites to Peewees. Weekly classes includes a series of drills relating to skating: maximizing power and control, turning/pivoting, stopping/starting, balance and body awareness. Skaters also become educated about parts of the blade as it relates to acceleration or performing specific turns. All skaters must have helmet, hockey gloves, sticks, shin pads and skates - full equipment is optional.
Power Fundamentals (8U): Tuesday, 7:00-7:45 am
Geared toward beginning Mites and qualifying MDP Select players may be eligible with approval and pending capacity. This class is for boys and girls 8U players new to power skating and 8U IceCat players. Our Power Skating classes offer skaters the tools to be faster, stronger, and more agile. Stops/starts, attack and defensive skating skills, transitions, and some player-specific needs are all developed throughout the season.
Power 1 (8U): Wednesday, 7:00-7:45 am
This class is for boys and girls 8U Travel players with previous Power Skating experience who have mastered the Power Fundamentals curriculum. Power Skating classes offer skaters the tools to be faster, stronger, and more agile. Stops/starts, attack and defensive skating skills, C-steps, transitions, and some player-specific needs are all developed throughout the season.
Power 2 (10U): Monday, 7:00-7:45 am
Open to boys and girls 10U Squirt travel hockey players. Power Skating classes offer skaters the tools to be faster, stronger, and more agile. Stops/starts, attack and defensive skating skills, transitions, and some player-specific needs are all developed throughout the season.
Power 3 (12U): Monday, 7:45-8:30 pm
This class is open to all boys and girls 12U travel hockey players. The class utilizes the entire ice surface to further develop stride mechanics and skating techniques presented in Power Hockey Skating 2.
Coaches reserve the right to place players in the appropriate class.
