Retirement

As Bruce Bartolo recently completed his final month working for New Canaan Winter Club, we wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU BRUCE for all you have given to hundreds of members over the years for over 48+ years working. There are not many people that can work in an environment like NCWC and be the true fabric of the family to make our club so unique and special.

At a recent celebration, a few fun facts were shared:

  • Bruce was instrumental when the rink bed needed to be redone
  • He was critical to the construction of the new clubhouse
  • Bruce has probably driven Zamboni over 10,000 miles, round and round, over the years
  • Shoveled over 200 feet of snow
  • Found and moved thousands of pucks
  • Celebrated hundreds of badges earned with figure skaters
  • Moved the Partition boards over 4,000 times
  • Work with many different Club Presidents and Board Members.
  • And the list continues on.

The greatest accomplishment is creating a family for all who step foot at the NCWC.  Through his incredible work ethic, humility, strength and leadership, Bruce's legacy will live on.  When you are next at NCWC, please take note of the newly dedicated Zamboni Barn, "Bruce's Barn" which is a small token of the club's appreciation for the tireless hours and commitment.
